shortening takedown design?
« on: July 23, 2013, 08:32:00 PM »
This spring i built the bingham pronounced takedown longbow 58" model. I love the bow and am planning to make another for hunting in tighter spots like treestands and ground blinds. I would like to shorten it to 54 inches. I was thinking of shortening the 15" riser to 13", and taking an inch off each limb. Any input or ideas of how much this will increase the draw weight?  Thanks guys!

On the recurves I make the difference between a 17" and 19" riser is about 4#. That is with the same length limb. What I did was make a blank riser block and bolt a set of limbs on to check the poundage difference. I don't know how much weight shortening the limbs will add. You might call Bingham and they might be able to tell you.  Hope this helps some. If not experimenting is half the fun.    :bigsmyl:
