Jamie, that's exactly what I've heard, and why I bought some to try. I've never had 'a problem' with how my bows shoot with B-50, with creep, stretch, duability, speed, or the feel at the shot... BUT if in the end I prefer D97, if only because of how it feels at the shot, that's reason enough for me to switch string material.

I admit, I've been hesitant to try a low stretch material because I've heard many folks declare it would be detrimental to a wooden bow, and I'm not about to spend the time and effort on my bows that I do, only to have them ruined by the string. But lately I've heard more and more insist no damage will be done, so I'm willing to give it a shot.

I've launched countless thousands of arrows from wooden bows of various sorts (selfbows, bbo's, sinew backed bows, etc.)braced with D97 strings in the last 15 years. not a single instance of ill effect or even any long term effects on bows that I've been shooting for 10 years with the same Dynaflight string. added bonus of these low-stretch string materials is that you cannot wear them out, at least I never have and I have some over 10 years old that have seen countless trips to the woods and thousands of shots. I have worn out b-50 strings from dragging them through the briars and such for a few years.

and how the shot "feels" is the big difference, and was the deal maker for me. less vibration, less bump in the hand, both of which are inherent in the low mass, light handled wooden bows we are all talking about. I proved it to myself by going out and shooting a bow with two different strings. shoot a few with B-50, switch strings, shoot a few with D97. back and forth for several rounds and I was sold very quickly. every bow I make gets braced with a D97 string.

Thanks for the input, Jamie. I appreciate it and I respect your opinion. Hopefully I'll get one twisted up this weekend.

Roy that sure is a good looking bow.  I really like the color of the boo.  The horn tips are awesome too.  Well done my friend.  I got some different strings from Good ol Mr. Art and Roy you will for sure notice a big difference.  A good difference.

On a more serious note, that bow is spectacular. Maybe someday I'll drop on by for a lesson or two.
Really great bow.    :notworthy:
