Started another tri lam, bow # 3...

Just love making these bows. Pay attention, Artty Boy:)

66 tip to tip, Boo backing, Elm core lam already thickness tapered, and an Osage belly.

     

Flipped the tips again.

     

Moved the mid limb posts in another 1/2" more towards the riser compared to the last one and added 1/2" more to the top of the end limb posts. That will make her even more curvy:)


     

Clamped every two inches, and back and belly are padded to prevent clamp damage... Unibond800 glue, not TBIII:)

Roy - I am going to ask what is probably a dumb question and is obvious but it would not be the first time so here goes...

Can you share the purpose in flipping the tips when the bow form will make that bend during glue up?

Cameron, it just gives the end of the tips a little sexy bend. If I hadn't flipped them, the ends of the limbs would have been straighter.

Looks real good, I'm liking the lines on it. I'm still working on the mid limbs of that hickory bow and have the hinge pretty much worked out of the left one. I'll send you some new pics tomorrow.

I don't know I'll ever make a normal backed bow again. There's nothing like those nice curves you can put into them.

That one is really coming out well.

Now you just need to cut in a mean shelf ... All the way to center and get an elevated rest! Lol

Roy, is this a 66" with handle in the middle? Or is it like Dean Torges with upper limb longer? Nice looking bows.

Keith it's 66 and equal length limbs. I don't always agree with Dean and Bowjunkie. I've seen their bows:) LMAO

Benny Boy, real wood bows shouldn't be cut to center. But yes I love tri lams..

Took her out of the clamps tonight, OMG it's leaning more towards one of those glass bow profiles:) What have I done wrong?

But I forgot my stack thickness.. LOL

   

Have the horn tip over lays glued on with smooth on, not cheap epoxy, Art.. HINT there:)

   

Cut these out of a piece of longer cow horn, so I had to improvise a bit. Decided to leave a sharp crown on the top center, which ya can't really see just yet. I think it will look cool.
