When I picked up mail this moring there was a small package in the mail box.  It was from Bob Burton (Whispering Wind Arrows).  I jumped back in the truck and gave the package to my boy and started driving toward town.  I was a little confused because there was a couple of things that I wanted to order from Bob but hadn't got around to calling him yet. My boy popped the box open and said "just some broadhead in here" and handed it to me.  I looked down and nearly put the truck in the ditch.  Couldn't believe my eyes to say the least.  Bob and I had talked a couple times over the years on how I would like to find one of my grandfathers broadheads that he made in the 50's but they are really hard to come by.  Bob found one and sent it to me.

I don't know if I can ever express how much this means to me or ever be able to thank Bob enough.  Bob you're a true gentleman and one of a kind.   :notworthy:      :notworthy:      :notworthy:

Nice gift    It sure looks cool and not to mention it means something to you.

The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

JC

Even cooler...put it to use and kill something with it.

I used an old Deadhead that was in a box of gear from my dear departed uncle. Can't tell you how neat it was add some more history to a head that already had a bunch.

Sometimes, we look so hard and focused on our past that our future becomes that much more easier, because of those that have walked before us, like grandfathers and grandmothers and uncles.  And hopefully we don't forget to write the roadmap for those that follow us.

That's a great find, I have a wallet that I've never used, that my grandfather made from leather and carved it, it has a deer on the front of it that he carved. it still looks brand-new but it's over 45 years old.

DINO Great   It looks like it uses a bleeder blade from a bear razorhead.Kip

Toxophilite

Super nice gesture!

F.Y.I. Your Grandfather's point sure looks a lot like a Simmons Interceptor...
I'm only as good as my first shot.

dino

Toxophilite, your right it does look like Simmon some.  It was made from a Gus Adkins blade and a bubble head bear ferrule and yep....bear bleeders. dino

  Now that's something! Made my jaw hit the floor - as you can imagine!
Good there are still some nice guys out there, to make such a gift     :notworthy:

csbullseye

Nice! I'd think twice about shooting it. Even if you make a clean kill with it, you may get a pass thru and hit a rock or it may get lost somewhere along the blood trail. Also check the game laws and make sure barbed heads are legal where you hunt.

laddy

Some body should manufacture that broadhead.

That's the Bob Burton we all know... He has some history in our sport and deserves to be listened to....
