To put the overlay on I clean up the cut and get out all of the supply's. The overlay gets glued up and clamped down. The plastic wrap is put on last to keep from glueing everything together.

Once the glue is dry there is some clean up work to do.

The drum sander comes in to play again. Someday I would like to have a horizontal sander for such things. But until then we will just have to get by.

Now that it is cleaned up time to start to make this look more like a bow riser.

It seem sometimes the lines just aren't as dark anymore. Maybe welding for a living as something to do with it.
So I retrace the pattern before doing any cutting.

Forgot to post these. Before the riser was cut out I squared up the limb pads.

When I cut the riser out I didn't saw right on the line. I use my pattern to get each bow as close as possible to each other. A little double side tape holds it all together. And then a trip back to the drum sander.

So now that everything is square and to size. I'm going to add some more overlays. These are going to go on the belly side.

Thanks bigbob2 So far everything has went as planned. In this next pic I need to put a center line on the riser. This line is used for the limb bolt holes. And it also gives me a reference for keeping both sides the same when shaping the grip.

The hole jig is a reworked binghams. It seems to do a good job for me. I have seen were some folks have had problems with the binghams jig. The only issue I had was I wallowed out the holes and had the fix them.
