Bingham limb and riser drilling jig for take down system. Some folks bash these, but there are a couple methods to make them quite accurate.

Hey, Dannon, I like seein' some one else from south Arkansas on here! I grew up a few miles south of Tate's Bluff on highway 7. Are you anywhere near there?

Im from Chidester. So I know exactly where Tates Bluff is! I also know where a Red Hill is in Chidester! I got bit by this traditional bug about 3 years ago. Loved shooting my longbow. I missed several nice bucks in two years and got discouraged. I sold all my traditional equipment and went back to a compound. I bought a brand new compound last year, but havn't even got it out of the case this year. I havn't even bought my license this year yet because I've gotten that traditional bug again. I've started building my form for a longbow with the plans I got from Kenny M on here. So I hope by the end of the year if I havn't built my own I hope I atleast can get my hands on a longbow or recurve by then. I do have a BBO I've been shooting everyday, I may end up hunting with it. I love shooting traditional, its fun, and im always learning. I love the fact that I don't need allen wrenches sights and all the gadgets that I thought I needed. I had more fun carrying my longbow to the woods than I did my compound. So, Im back, and here to stay.

What design improvements did you find over the Bingham jig? Is there anything that assures that a benchtop drill press will be dead accurate? So far, I've only built one-piece bows, so I'm trying to work up the courage to take on a take-down.

I am going to a jig style that aligns everything by being layed horiontal on a dead true surface, and maintatins consistency from the sight window side of the riser. Hard to explain here. This link is of my jig, but mine is similar.  http://piratesofarchery.net/bb/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13045.

SenterShot, Search this forum for the title "Making the Bingham drilling jig work". That is the method I had the best success with using that device. There are several other threads on the topic here showing other sound methods as well. (You have likely discovered this in your research already.) My logic for spending the $$ to have something custom built is the desire to be able to build additional limbs for the same bow at some point.
