New Member and Two New Bows.
« on: October 29, 2013, 12:35:00 AM »
Hello! I am Chris Cole and I am currently in Irvine, CA. I grew up in Austin Texas.

I started shooting about 3 months ago. I finished my bow about 2 months ago. And finished my boy's bow about 2-3 weeks ago.

Recently finished my first shooter(second really but I broke that one while stupidly trying to string with a short string).

It is Read Oak backed with something(home depot mislabled the wood). It's 72 inches, 70 NTN.

It is 40# at 30 inch draw.

I also made a bow for my son. He is 3 1/2.

It is bamboo with a red oak riser.

Just a little under 3.5 feet in length. Not really sure on the poundage yet but he can just barely draw to his cheek so I don't want to mess with it too much.

Welcome Chris - this is a great place to connect  and be encouraged in your bow making adventures. Great job on your bow and that is pretty cool that you are getting your son in on the action early.

Always neat to see a youngster with a bow, especially one that his Dad made for him.  Nice work.
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

That's great.  Good looking bows.  It always makes me smile to see little ones with bows.  Well done.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I will be putting up a new thread soon about the new bow I am starting.

I will have plenty of questions  :)
