Epoxy-is it good enough for phenolic?

I think I have asked this before, but can you use epoxy(not the fast set kind) to glue up phenolic in a riser or will it fail? I know smooth on is best but don't have any nor a hot box. Will this work in a pinch?

smooth on wil cure at room temp if you give it a while.

I think any top quality slow cure epoxy should be fine. I wouldn't use the walmart or hardware store special .... but a high quality slow set epoxy ... i can't imagine it's not going to be ok.

with that said ... it won't be cheaper than smooth on, so unless you're sitting on a stash of 24hr cure west systems epoxy, I'd order a bit of smooth on

A good quality epoxy like west systems will work great and u don't have to hot box it.  When I use west system I add colloidal silica till its a smooth on or mayo consistency just in case the joints are not perfect.    use the 206 hardener it gives u about a 20min pot life.

I used a 5 min epoxy for my tips. Roughing up with some 80 grit, cleaning surfaces with denatured and all is well.
