Silver/metal accent stripe
« on: December 16, 2013, 05:01:00 PM »
Hey Gang,
I wonder if someone ever made silver stripes in a riser. I thought of using .04/.02 aluminium sheet metal- even brass might work for golden accents.

I`m looking forward for some opinions or experiences...

(I have another certain design on my mind; and it will be sweeeeet   :goldtooth: )

I don't think you would want the metal to go clear through. I think you would have adhesion problems. Also heat and cold would have different effects on the wood vs the metal.

I'll bet an inlay would work and look REALLY cool though.

Sterling silver wire inlay.  Do it just like a gunstock or knife, sterling is very malleable.  It shouldn't affect the action much if at all.

X2.

Works great on rifles.
If you want to get really fancy..and sorta expensive..you can buy dead soft  gold inlay wire in quite a few colors..yellow, white, pink, green, and some other colors. Least they won't tarnish...
