My first bow form (all done)

First of all I want to thank every-one for all the info available here,All the patience, and answering pm's with no reserve what-so ever.I will be building a Hill style straight limbed bow for my first,(I'm sure it will take some set)I have glued together some furniture grade birch plywood and covered it with Formica to make it 1 1/2" thick, I used titebond II for the wood and laminate and will leave it in the vac.bag over-nite.

Ok that's really not fair... that is not a shop lol. Looks great so far! I build straight limb Hill bows and haven't had them take to much set. You'll be fine.

I like to screw my pieces together with a bunch of  1 1/4 inch drywall screws along with the tite bond glue.

Robert, I do the same.  In fact, I have no way of claming or bagging so I lay up on a flat surface and use the screws to clamp it.  Usually use way more than needed, but they can alwasy be removed!

I did some work on my form today
 
out of the bag and routed off the Formica,and trimed all four edges
  make sure your blade is square
 
  first edges then feather boards to keep your pcs,tight to the fence
  then the ends,I wasn't sure on a lenght cus I don't have a fir-hose clamp yet.So I went 74 inches.where can I get a hose?

One place for the fire hose you want is  WWW.binghamprojects.com  they also have the hose plugs you will need. There may be others also, as the guys chime in.  Looking good.

Thanks guys,next I put a strip of Formica on the edge of the form,again I used tite-bond instead of contact,contact will let go in a hot box I think
 
I masked it off to help with clean-up
 
I stuck the lam.strip down to mdf strip so it wouldn"t move then back in the bag to dry

Okay I finally got a few minutes to post a little more,while the glue was drying I made a router template for the riser cutout using a Tim Meigs bow for a guide
 
  looks like I spelled template wrong
  ruffed it out with the jig saw,then the pattern bit in the router
 
  then made-up some spacer blocks and locking straps

and she's finished up,this is my first try at bow building,the rest will have to wait a-wile,collage tuition for my son and wife comes first,I will be contacting a lamination supplier soon but first I have to read my new book,Traditional Bowyer,More Unnecessary fun,thanks for looking and please comment,I know there is room for improvement.

re the contact, I havent had mine let go as yet, but maybe I've been lucky.

I use 3M "High Stregnth 90" high temp contact glue to glue down my reverse tapers and glass strip on my forms.. its not cheap but it has worked nicely on 3 forms so far.
