hey Scott.
i build a solid wade style ranch saddle mostly- a good strong saddle that will hold a 2000# bull. but also do some kids saddles, aussie stock saddles(and a polo crosse type saddle), and a roping aussie stock saddle - with a wade style post.
was wanting to do an association type tree with a better ranch style post on it- but havent got it finished either. i have always preferred the swells on the assoc. as apposed to a slick fork- and if they are not too hooked- dont worry the dallies any, and wont hang up a rider either on a pitchy bronc.
was working on a skirted dressage saddle and a skirted jumping saddle before i immigrated- need to get back on that project. those english saddles have such a poor fit generally IMHO, and the western skirted style of fit is way better.
