I started on a recurve for Helens dad. It will be a 58" one piece around 30lbs. This will be his first bow and a back yard shooter only. I looked thru my wood stash and decided on a nice piece of Sapele for the riser. I cut out enough for a riser, squared it up on the edge sander, rough cut the fades on bandsaw and sanded them thiner on pattern sander..not sure about veneers yet..I have some etimoe or figured walnut that I might use. ill use amberboo for tapers.

Tonight I tried out my new lighted range:

I've been dreaming of this for a long time. My wife call's it "Dave's Field of Dreams." (Anyone coming?)

Anyhow, lights came on last night, but I was too tired after all the trenching and filling in of said trenches to draw the bow. Heck, it was tough even tonight!

I got a Robin Hood! Does it count if I split the nock, but didn't damage the shaft?

I really love my new recurve!

I was shooting my turkey target. I have 3 little squares of tape on it that I shoot for. I hit all 3 and shot a fourth arrow, heard a tiny crack. The point hit just off center in the nock and split it, but deflected slightly and stuck in the target.

My hunting partner said it doesn't count unless the shafts are stuck together. All I got is a split nock, which is good cause I don't like breaking arrows.
