thanks--I found that with the tapers being on the ramps that if they slide --the stack thickness can vary making tillering a pain![and hitting weight] so I started lashing them in place--the clamp keeps the riser in place side to side as well as north and south and shims the hose up off the limb butts

Thanks everyone. Bamboo, the limb measurements are as follows. I can use inches on the lenght , but will use metric on width, sorry. The limb lenght from end of limb pads to middle of string notch is 22".
Width measurements are as follows: at the end of limb pads 41mm, then every 3 inches 41mm-40,5mm-40,5mm-39,5mm-36,5mm-29mm-then to 17mm just before string notch.
The wedge lenght from end of limb pad to fade out is 4 3/4 inch. If I make another with the same design and lenght I will shorten the wedge with about 1" in order to get a little more bend closer to handle.
The handle lenght is 19 3/4 inch. String lenght is 61 inches, this should yield an AMO bowlenght of 64inches. Bue--.

Yesterday I got approval from my home boss to build a workbench on the porch.

Immediately Designed and built a small 4x2' bench. Nothing fancy but enough to get by.

Then I had a stroke of genius ... I had previously been forbidden tpo purchase the ridgid spindle sander ... I realized though that I had a thickness sander with a perfectly good set of drums 1", 2" 2.5" and 3" diameter ... and a 1/4hp motor conencted to it ...

Today I gutted that thickness sander and made a spindle sander built into the worktable. Now all I need to do is get a thickness sanding fence and springboard and I'm ready to thickness sand and to shape up my risers!

I eliminated 1 space robbing tool (that I hated the design of) that had to be inside, and gained the ability to spindle sand in one swoop.

This weekend I will make the inserts for the table to accept the different size drums, and make a mounting area for the drums not in use, lastly I need to get some kind of dust control going on with my shop-vac.

I'm particularly excited to be able to add a handle to my grinding sled to make manual feed on the lam grinder more user friendly.

Took a buddies bow out of the clamps tonight. Osage belly, walnut core, backed with boo.

   

Put the riser on the possible swap bow.

 

And have some bow building fluid working.

Roy, that would be a real ****load of wild grapes. I collected them one year to make jelly and i didn't have half that much juice and it took hours and hours to colelct clean ans seperate those grapes from the stems to cook em down.

Almost done my twin forward riser Hills. One left and one right. The left is done. Hope to post some pics by the end of the weekend. Osage and phenolic risers with walnut and stained sassafras lams. Both at 50#. I have a special plan for these. Anyone going to Baltimore in May??

Roughly (hand saw) cut out some risers for the some R/Ds I'm making ... they'll be my first 1 piece R/D bows. One riser is cocobolo and the other redheart. Both I believe will really stand out.

Tomorrow I'll test out the spindle sander for riser shaping.

Still undecided what riser wood I'm using for my swap bow, a friends bow and a bow for me.

I was planning on using maple/walnut striped riser for the swap bow, but I'm debating using some cocobolo or redheart. It will be hickory back, walnut core, ipe belly ... so thats why I was thinking the maple/walnut stripe thing.

We'll see.

Roy, what is the thickness of the walnut core in your bow?  I'd like to make a few tri-lams before long.

About 3/16th at riser, tapered to 1/16th at tips. Start with a 1/4" parallel lam then taper it.

Yea this is the first time I've worked with it- it caught my eye at the wood store and is similar to purple heart. It was really orange/red before I started sanding so maybe that color comes back.
