ya know....I've seen guys wearing goggles when snow trekking often enough. Always thought it was for keeping the blowing snow from pelting your eyes...kinda like safety glasses. And sometimes tinted like sunglasses cause it can be so bright.

...never thought about it for actually keeping your eyes WARM...just never crossed my mind..

That's so cold if you went to the outhouse to take a piss and didn't dress for it you might not make it back ....

Ben, if it were that cold, you do your thing in the house or you'll likely have no thing to do your thing with. You can apologise to your housemates when it warms up.

I talked with a friend that was in northern Wyoming working last year doing construction. Said his eyelids were freezing shut because of his eyes watering due to the wind.  He had to pull the lids apart by hand every few minutes.  He's a heck of a lot tougher than I am!

I've been out blowing snow in -20f this winter with the wind blowing. Not real impressed with those conditions, so -151f just sounds stupid cold.

I've been working on a HBI that I am going to glue up tonight. Going to put a cherry handle section on it and cherry tip recurves. Will probably put horn overlays on it as well. May end up being my swap bow. Some pics to come later.

Bue, better keep the fur liners on those brass monkeys    (love that saying)

ya-all know where it comes from...
the brass stand that held the iron canon balls on ye olde ships, was called a monkey, and when the ships traveled to cold climes, the two metals would contract at different rates, and the canon balls would fall off the brass stand..."cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey"

Sorry, memory card in my camera is on the fritz. I will try to get another camera tomorrow and put some photo's up. I got the bow all glued up and will take the clamps off tomorrow. used tbIII so will wait a weel or so to let the moisture move out of the bow before I start tillering.

Fujimo., you are one of the only people I have talked to who also knows that. it is a common saying in Australia but most don't know where it comes from. they just think there are a number of unfortunate primates running around in cold climates.

Sure thing Tony, that's also a very common saying in s. Africa, where I hail from!!
However I do prefer the mental picture that the saying conjours up, of the unfortunate primates.

My other passion besides trad archery, is all things boating,I love to sail,and fish for salmon etc.
In fact I almost have as many boats as I have bows   :D  
Well a bit of an exaggeration , but there are boats all over the yard.
One of the joys of island living. Everything here evolves around the weather and the ocean. We are 60 miles off the coast of northern  B.C.

We get a few ferries a week. And a few planes, but pretty isolated.love it that way, just can't find any other trad archers here, I seem to be the only one who bow hunts here. Only 4000 people on island in  4 villages, 350 in our village!!!

Worked on the chimney for the wood burner in the bow shop. Welded on a longer bracket and added two cable ties for extra support. It get's pretty windy up here on top of the hill.
