Today I sat in a math/science workshop for 6 hours. Came hem to rake and burn leaves for three hours. No time to work on my trade bow... Maybe tomorrow.

Incidentally, I finally drew around 60 pounds!  The time in the wheelchair is paying off!

Enjoyed a beautiful spring day at a local 3D shoot with my Niece, her boyfriend, and my brother in law.  She was shooting her pink and black graduation bow I made for her last summer.

Dang scrub wish I could make one of those snakes bows... Always wanted one but mine have always ended up in firewood.

It's my new extreme foc/boc string follow stealth D design with dual double pumper gladiators...

The fades on the belly side piece are a little steep ( and not finished) ...but..
My thought is that the REAL tapers doing the work are in the "power lam" section between the back and core.
Those extend 2" past the tips of the belly section of the handle.

The core is Black walnut.
The lams in the riser/handle section are osage and ipe.
I thought the ipe would match up pretty good color-wise with the walnut and and add a bit more mass...

kind of an ugly duckling of a bow...but I had the stuff laying around so I figured I should find a way to use it.

Just got done gluing some fairly pretty horn to the tips.
I'll be asking for group therapy  for tillering soon...lol

I started on a r/d this weekend for a friend of mine.

Here it is fresh off the form and strung up for the first time.

I have been working on this project for a few weekends. Finally I think I got it figured out. It may not be new to some of you but for the cost of having it done it was worth a try to me. Vacuum process of stabilizing wood. There are several videos on YT or I can PM or email on how I done it (too lengthy to type here)I can send you the link.Here are a few pics of what started as a plain piece of marginal birdseye with color added and turned it into a good looking riser block. It added quite a bit of weight also. This piece is squared and sanded to 180. Then some rattle can poly sprayed on to bring out the grain

That's awesome.  Can you stabilize any wood?  I'd love to have some thumb ring blank sized pieces done.  It would save me a lot of labor and make the results better to boot.

If the wood will float that means it has air in it. So vacuum the air out in chamber where the wood is covered with a resin. When vacuum is released atmospheric pressure will force it in where the air was pulled out.

Finished another scandi-style knife tonight;
Carbon steel and mostly leftovers from bowmaking for the handle   :D  hope you like it....
Finally I got to start on my swap bow- and two others ordered   :rolleyes:

Thin stripes of A-wood glued 90°... leftovers from trimming full-sized blanks after few runs throug thicknesser; scrapwood^^
Guess I`m really getting another addiction to this knife/handlemaking... wife won`t be to happy `bout   :rolleyes:    :D

I will hopefully be finishing up my bow oven today and then after a trip to town for some more parts to get started on my bow form.  I've been doing a lot of searches on here but may still have to ask some questions as I get going on this process of making my first glass laminate bows!
