I like flat black on a bow.

Well today...

Checked tiller after 331 shots..looked fine.

Shaped and glued on a thumb rest...I'll never scoff at a bower wanting $50+ for one of those on a bow..I swear it took longer than the rest of the grip.

Finish sanded my bow.
Going to stain it in about 20 mins...

Just finished staining it.
Tried a new technique for staining I don't remember seeing before. It was a real PITA, but I think it turned out pretty cool.
..lol..didn't have any gloves around..my hands are pretty filthy looking..

I'll get some pics up in a few days after I get a few coats of poly on it.

I'm sure it isn't "NEW"..I just haven't done it..or seen it done...probably just haven't looked in the right places is all.

I'll get some pics up when the poly dries.

Glued up another tri lam tonight for TrapperRob. He did all the ground work the last time he was here, all I did was glue it up for him. Robbie lives about 100 miles from me. So I try to take up the slack so he doesn't need to make so many trips down here. I'll glue on the riser and horn tip overlays for him too. Then next time he comes down, all he has to do is cut it out and get to rasping.... Then I can sit back and agitate his ass.  :)

Pretty cool Roy.
Going to be weird when gluing up a bow becomes "normal"

Use tung oil and you will get a perfect wipe on coat, every time..

Ask D how the finish on his swap bow looks and feels..

Do you use pure tung oil?

I use minwax tung oil. You wipe it on, wait 6 to 7 minutes and wipe it off. Then ya gotta wait 24 hours for the second coat. Wipe it on again and wipe it off in 6 to 7 minutes. I do 4 or 5 coats. It is a dust free, run free finish. Not water proof, but water resistant, good enough for bows. Your getting there Mr. Bowyer John..   :)   Nother year or two and you will fugger it all out..   :)

TimberGoose, what's ya mean ya hain't got a tri lam yet? What the heck ya been doing up there son? PM me and we will talk... I can talk you through how to build one...

Cut out some risers tonight from Spalted Maple. Some super looking stuff. One of them is already on TrapperRobs tri lam. I like it...
