Learning about tapering a bit tonight.

When doing full length double tapers with a double drum sander you seem to need a "filler" sled under the lam on the back half. Otherwise the tension rollers push down the lam off the back of the primary sled...which then flexes the middle of the lam up into the sanding drum. With the filler in (which needs to be surprisingly close to the same thickness as the primary sled).. the lam doesn't have anywhere to flex.

I know this is old news to many...but some of us are newbies...lol

...Kenny's plan of making a custom double taper sled makes more and more sense.

I made and tried out a home made log sled today.  I made it from a blue plastic drum.  It worked great.

Scrub buster nice haul.  You got some work ahead of you.
Had a great day.  Shot well at the 3d shoot this morning... Then got a good bit of yardwork done on what ill call our second day of spring.  Found me an unused 2hp grizzly dust collector for $150 that im pickin up tomorrow, put the last coat of tung oil on ole "holey moley"  and almost got the wife talked into 4 wheelers for the whole family.  Then i had a beer.  Life is good

Met up and shot with Sweka earlier this week. His latest bow is great! Shoots as good as it looks.

Up early to head out now for my level 2 archery instructor course over in Harrisonburg for the weekend. Should be fun.

Roy you need to hurry up and finish that, those mountains don't look blue anymore. Quit wasting time.
