Not sure what can be done, the one knot runs just under the surface at a 45deg all the way from one side to the other..and the other chunk just had a huge punky spot hidden inside..its a total loss..

Roy your bow is looking good usual.

Kevin is the bad spots on the same boards or different one. If it is different boards you should be able to cut the boards before the bad spots as z splice the handles to get a bow out of the pieces but I can't tell from you pics if how long the boards are.

I love the idea of reversing tapers for strength and light weight Kenny.... I can't wait for that bow to show up here.

So my wife had forbidden me from entering another swap again.  But as I'm polishing out the final coat of wax on a couple of longbows, she's gotten into what I should make my recipient.  I'm thinking reverse handle hill, but she thinks they look too weird and says I should aim for something that looks more classic.  I explained what I wanted to do with the walnut and how I wanted to dress up the riser this time, she seemed to like that idea.  She wants to know when I'm going to get started.  I said I have some kid bows to make first, and she seemed kind of disappointed!

got my layouts drawn up on stave 1 and 2.  i like em both the same so im gonna go ahead and rough em both out and see if theres any surprises on the belly side.  both have a touch of snaky and just enough pin knots to give them character without making the bow to tricky to build.

Eric - I am so amazed as i look at those two pieces of wood and think that you will shape them in to a working bow. Looking forward to seeing those take shape.

Eric that one on the right has some thick rings for sure.

Thanks Cameron.  Always is fun.  Its neat to watch it happen even when you're doing it..  Kelly the rings thin out a bit at the other end of the stave but there still not bad.  The other stave has the thinnest rings ive worked but still not what youd call "thin".  Different sides of the same tree by the way.  Another stave from that same log i worked down real deep to the real thick rings... But i also got into alot of thorns and knots.  Its at floor tiller now with a half dozen through and through holes.  Gonna be neat if it works out.
