Yeah, there's not a one near me, and I'm looking for seasoned wood anyway.  Further into the city there's shagbark, but I still would have to cut it, get it home and get it down to size, the tools for which I do not have.  I'm attempting to respect the limitations of my equipment-I can do some things, but taking a tree down to a stave is beyond what I have the tools or knowledge to do.

Edit: crisis averted, thanks fujimo!

Ok ok I got her roughed in.  Pulled the tape off and here she is.  Spalted maple/curly koa veneers, boo, koa wedges.  Walnut riser with black and red glass and myrtle accents.

Man, I feel like such a slacker!  Everyone else seems to be making such great progress.  I've got a nice walnut board but that's it!  I need to get some stuff going!

Well, worked on my swapper this morning, was up waaaay early and not wanting to make a lot of noise, got her out of form  and cleaned up. Peeled tape and found........ no probs! Everything stayed where it was sposed to and no flaws (yet)

Ground the limbs and strung her up.  Even tiller and about 7 # heavy at 79# more or less  :goldtooth:  Should come right in on target.

The maple/walnut awood specially tapered core looks really cool on limb edges too.

Then I've been grinding lams for probably other swap bows...   :)
Stay sharp, Kenny.
