Was in the UP last weekend for a little ice fishing. Only about 3+ feet of ice on the smaller lakes. It got down to -17*F one night without the windchill. I had to pull a stocking cap over my ears for goodness sakes. All kidding aside, it's been a cold winter here, with 50% more snow than our yearly average. And the dnr wants me to think about spring turkey apps! Lol.

That's a great looking bow you have started there. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.

sorry guys, have been working on it in bits and pieces- re-did my form, guess i put my brackets on the bottom form, and shoulda been on the top- so while i had the brackets all off i gave it a few good coats of verathane- to maybe stabalise the m/c a bit.
i really gotta finish it soon, i really want to use it for my spring bear hunt- and that is just around the corner!- 1st april!!! to 1st june

ok, here goes- worked till 1.30 last night up at 6.30 turn the oven off and cleaned it up this afternoon. really wanted to keep the splices  in the right places, and didnt want the lams sliding down the ramps, so after some careful measuring, and dry runs- glued a block to the back glass- worked really well- will be doing that again.

nope thats not a gap in the glue line-i sanded the riser with some 36 grit paper- guess its just one of the grooves from the paper- nice strong glue joint   :D   - guess i will use a finer paper next time!   :knothead:

and the toothpick- really made things so easy- its a keeper

the maple came out a beautiful golden colour, with the smooth-on- really like it!

so here is it cleaned up and ready to be turned into a bow

That looks amazing.  Great work.  I like the block at the end to keep it from sliding and the toothpick idea too.

Got it all ground to shape tonight, will glue overlays on tomorrow, and finish it over the weekend.

The toothpick was an idea I got from that ol' fella in Pa.
Good idea, really stopped the slimed lams from sliding all over the place, the blocks worked very well too.
