Osage, Rat Snake, and some character
« on: February 21, 2014, 01:10:00 PM »
I started on this bow last summer and then put it away while I worked on other stuff.  Here recently I got it out and finished it up.  Its 61" long and the limbs are 1.5" wide.  Its 45# @ 24".  The limbs twist back and forth a little and have some concave areas.  It has a kink right in the handle and the limbs curve to the sides which makes it pretty much center shot.  Its a fun bow to shoot.  It is backed with a single black rat snake skin and finished off with 6 coats of tung oil.  The tip overlays are horn.  It has a dark wind check in the lower fade.  I can't get a full draw picture until later today.

When I shaped the grip area I followed the shape of the back where it dips down.

Love the picture looking down the back toward the grass.  Looks like your bow is about to slither away.  Terrific work.    :clapper:
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

couldn't see the full draw shot for a moment as I was blind sided by the color scheme.   :bigsmyl:    :goldtooth:   Great job on the bow!
