Took my two sons to an archery shoot today and had a great time in the woods.
Was a cold morning but didn’t stop about 60+ archers including many with families from coming.
Here in Long Island nestled in between million dollar homes in Huntington/Dix Hills we have an outdoor 20 acre wooded archery range called Suffolk Archers. Long Island's piece of Archery Heaven.
This past Sunday was the final day of our Snow Flake League. Each week prior to shooting coffee and donuts are offered. After shooting the 3D course lunch is prepared and served onsite of various game taken by members though out the season.
This the final day’s meal was a pig roast, with apple sauce, baked beans with bacon and french fries and more. The pig was freshly harvested by members who went to Fla. last week and each took their share home with them.
Here are some photos of my sons during the day:
1- Standing on a dock preparing to shoot across a pond at two pigs. Over 30 yard shot.
2- The two pigs are in the background just below the curver tree limb. My youngest Nick’s arrow hit the 2x4 used for Knock-A-Block at the pig’s foot and the arrow bounced back toward us across the ice. It is on the right of the long branch. The "Daddy did you see that?" lit up their faces.

4- Nick pointing to his 10 shot on the Reindeer. (Note where Dads gut shot arrow is below)Yes that is a Baboon behind Nick and a wolverene just to the right.
5- Here Chris and Nick with the big “Jolly” guy from way up North who is known to be there quite often taking alil R&R from a hard Holiday Season. And yes that is his red truck in the background. Seems his regular means of transportation are resting and out in the forests at play with the rest of their kind.
