Marblewood bow died see my last post
« on: August 06, 2014, 02:38:00 PM »
Been working on a new bow. Marblewood handle with an actionwood accent strip and camo actionwood veneers. I've got the coats of gloss finish on and waiting for it to cure then I'll sand it smooth, add some vine patterns on the limb and give it several coats of matt finish. It's about 50# draw weight and a 64" bow. The limb tips have buffalo horn.

Here are pictures of the vines and the young mans name in Elfin font.

Well done! I have been wanting to use some in a bow for a while now.

You have any hunting plans for that bow this year?

Nothing fancy like you do Mike just something like the Lord of the rings stuff. The young man is a big fan. Also found an elfin font to put his name on with.

Nice work Ben. I have some marblewood and now I'm stoked to make something with it!

Dang the veneer appears to have sheared under load. Not sure but it looks like the actionwood pulled apart at a joint. Even the glass pulled apart. Glad it happened to me and not the young man it was for. It never gave me a hint that it was failing.

I know that feeling.  Not much fun.  You just going to remake one limb or both?

Doing both, just don't trust the other limb

Don't blame you there.  I just had a pair blow on me.  So had to make both but I think I would have any way.

Bummer! I hate to see a bow fail.
