New Hybrid, Ziricote and Mango (from Troy)
« on: August 12, 2014, 05:47:00 PM »
Hey guys, just finished up a bow, thought I'd share.  It's another 64" hybrid, this time with a ziricote riser and mango veneers that I bought from Troy (thanks! They came out beautiful!).  Really happy with this one, best shooter I've built so far.  It's sitting about 59# @ 28".  Also the first bow that I ground all the lams myself for, and the first that I added uniweft to the core (which will now be a regular thing, I think it has something to do with why this guy shoots so nicely). Quite pleased with it!  really slings an arrow.

Very nice...I really like the braced profile. Awesome overlays on the limb butts too.

Very nice I just started one with the same combo of wood for a buddy of mine. I hope it comes out half as nice as yours.

Very nice! I've never used ziricote before but have always liked it. It really looks classy with the veneers you used! Great looking bow!

Thanks everyone!  Yeah, first time using ziri too, and this block I bought coated in wax so I couldn't tell if it had nice grain or not, ended up being very pleasantly surprised with it. Still want to make my all time favorite combo, koa with koa or mango in the limbs, hard woods to get a hold of though.

Also have a customer's bocote and actionwood coming up soon and a chechen and possibly mango one after that.  Will post pics as they finish.
