I work the bow slowly down the tree, an inch or two at a time for 30 pulls, correcting what need be along the way. I want the rope to come straight down the line. If it drifts to the left or right, that means one limb is stronger than the other. The rope will drift towards the stronger limb. I begin removing wood a little at a time from the strong limb, and I use the gizmo tool in conjunction with the tree.

ANYTIME I remove wood from a limb, I put the bow back on the tree and work it 30 times to however far I just worked it before. I get the limbs bending evenly within only 3 or 4 inches down the tree on a short/long string.

And remember this, Cameron.. You can always take more wood off, "BUT" once you remove too much wood, You CAN'T ever put it back on. SO go slow and have a plan/goal in mind of why and where you are removing wood.

She took some set, aye? How much from the glued up profile? How long and wide is it?

Prolly lost 1.5 of reflex from glue up. 1 1/4 wide, 63 tip to tip. The 30 inch draw is rough on wood bows..  :)

Great work Roy! That's lookin mighty fine. If I ever get any time in the wood shop again, I might have to try one of these for myself. Unless you want to build me one... Lol.

The other day right after pulling it about 300 times.

Today after it rested for a day. It's back to more reflex. That's normal for a wood bow to recover after a while, especially after 300 pulls down the tree in 3 hours the other night.

Have the riser roughed in, need to clean up the fade ends of it a tad more. That spalted maple looks sweet.

I think I'm more anxious to see this done than my own.  Looks great.
