Alternative for Dymondwood
« on: October 17, 2014, 08:43:00 PM »
I am wandering which way we turn to get a like product for Dymondwood and actionwood. I have used the spectraply but it is not as good as the regular actionwood in my opinion. Have not tried the Dymalux yet.

I don't know of an alternative except good old hardwoods...they don't even have to be exotic.

Personally I have only made two...maybe three bows with dymondwood and actionwood but I have sold a bunch of the wood.

I doubt I will have enough stock to get me through if they rebuild.

The only one I have run across is Acryliwood an I know virtually nothing about it.

The best made plan won't get it made the way you planned.

Ron Pitsley of Predator bows is making a very nice stabilized Michigan hardwood riser blank.  I have personally inspected his stabilizing technique and I will recommend it.  LF

Do you know if Ron will sell the stabilized wood to hobby bowyers?

I have some samples from delignit (Panzerholz, tank-wood), germany.
 delignit
I am working on my first bow handle with this wood . I get it from *b**. I tried to get directly from the company but i only can get complete sheets. I one made a bow dymondwood and would say delignit is a little bit heavier.
A friend of my (a joiner) made such wood by himself with a big veneer press.
