I'm working on my first bow, It's a red oak bb,70inch ntn linen backed with tip over lays.I have learned to go slower on tillering now...my goal weight was 50-she tillered to

I shoren this bow to gain weight?if so how much would you think?is there a sort of "rule of thumb" inches removed/draw weight? Thanks Burt

You will gain at least 5# per inch, a 66" bow is plenty long enough for most draw lengths.

If you shorten it that much though you will be increasing strain quite a bit. what you've got to ask yourself before shortening it is are the limbs wide enough to handle it without excessive set.
The best way to gain weight is to start again!

Mike,the limbs are 1 1/2 till the tapers,but I think you right.It is the bow it is,I will finish it and I'm sure I can find some arrows for it and a kid to shoot it,and shoot it myself.My next will be better and better and better....Burt
