Thanks Kenny. I think I can get the boo to bend around the riser. I can heat it and that will help.
I'll give it a try once we're done with all the overtime at work and I can get out into the shop again.

OK, been to the Dr and took my pup to the dog doc afterward!! I'm gluing the overlays on now, and hoping I can get her down to around 55# .

I think I just overestimated the stack.....

Alright, got some more progress pics...

This is gluing on belly and tip overlays...

This is making and gluing the back overlay, why I'm going to this trouble for a bow that is gonna be painted, I have no clue!!

Here I drew the deflex radius on a scrap block and instead of tilting my bandsaw table, just used a pc to jack up one side, you'll see what I'm doing here in a minute!!

Gluing the back overlay...

No to the interesting part...

Weight @ 28"

With a 512 grain arrow- gpi=

I'm not sure I should show the chrono reading, it wasn't what I even expected....

Handle looks very nice. Perhaps you better keep the chrono reading to yourself.

I narrowed the limbs to 3/8"+ at tips and a bit under 1 3/8" at fades and trapped the back. I will have 55# @ 28" after sanding, maybe even a bit less...

Can't believe I just now saw this thread. I just finished a forward riser short r/d and love the way it shoots. This one right here looks pretty sweet Kenny. Really like the looks of it and from what the chrono says, seems like a keeper if she shoots as smooth and is as quiet as it is pretty!  That riser overlay is pretty slick too!

That's pretty slick Kenny!!  I wasn't sure that I personally was gonna like it at first but it really came a long ways and looks good!!

Thanks guys! First shot I noticed it was real quiet. But it has a hunting string on it from another bow.

Has 6 catwhisker silencers on it for some reason. Maybe needed to slow the arrow slightly for tuning, don't remember....

I bet a bare string and some tuned arrows would pick up a few fps.

The shooting was done with a machine with a caliper release so you can take off 4-5 for fingers shooting too.

When I get her sanded, I think I can shoot it, no prob, shot it a few times at 65# off the hand like a selfbow.

I still don't like how close the string is to the limbs, but it seems to work!

Kenny : I seem to remember reading about flight shooters of the past building bows with the string close to the limbs like that?
Try cranking that back to 30" and let us know what the chrono says if you would and have time? Thanks Drew
