Big Ol 160 gr. SNUFFERS what they good for?

I shoot most of my deer close to your house.  You can use any broadhead you choose.  That being said,  they are are great for elk.

Big snuffers leave big holes when on a heavy arrow and a moderately heavy bow.  I wouldn't shoot them with a bow under 50# or on an arrow less than 500 grains.  That's just me.

Yes easy to sharpen,and big blood trails.I have been using them for 20 years now IMO the best broadhead made.Everyone has made a copy.

I've had them work just fine out of a 45# bow. Yes, you do want a moderately heavy hunting arrow, but a properly matched arrow that flies well out of your bow will do the job with a big Snuffer. I have yet to see a blood trail that compares to a 160gr. Snuffer, even if you don't get a pass through. That's experience, not speculation.
Big hole = massive blood loss.

Been talking to Guru bout them, thinking bout getting some to try out. For those that use them, how are you shapening...flat file method?

For those that have used both, how would you compare big snuffers to WW's for straightness? I've had the devil of a time getting some of the recent WW's to spin true and have to remove 5-10gr to get the blades flat.

Ryan did a tutorial a while back using a bench grinder.  That way works fantastic.  I got lessons from Roger last spring with that method. It will work with a Wensel Woodsman too.

There are some BIG critters in Roger's barn taken out with big ol' Snuffers.  Elk, moose, buffalo, ect.  You can kill anything you want with them up to the really big stuff in Africa or Austrailia.

340# Boar shot with wood arrow at 15yards through both shields with a 160 grain snuffer file sharpened on a modified Snuffer Tamer and leather stropped. I preheat the heats on torch to soften so they don't skip down the files and they are alot easier to sharpen IMO.

I have personally never shot anything with them but I do know that Dick Robertson used them on his Moose and Grizzly and I have seen in person 2 Antelope that Ryan Rothaar shot with them along with the pictures of his Moose and also Muskox, I can't understand why anyone would use a WW when there are Snuffers.  I will be using some this fall for sure along with my usual Sasquatch broadheads.  Joseph

For sharpening see the thread Mr. Osminski brought ttt.  (He's MR Osminski now, since he's gonna take me huntin'!, even tho he got outsmarted by a sheep.
