Kenny M motivation
« on: January 26, 2015, 03:50:00 AM »
Kenny's post motivated me to build these forms this weekend. Now i am just waiting for my drumsander to return from repairs so that I can finish the lam's for the bows. His post just made it so much easier for me. Thanks

The one form is similar to Kenny's R/D and the other hopefully for a forward riser which I wan't to try. Hope I have some beginner's luck!

what riser is that?
willem where are you based, do you just build bows for yourself, or do you sell?
i have a mate in KZN who really needs some help?
and you know how scarce good trad skills and knowledge is over there!

Judging off my attempt, I think your forward riser will be good!

The other one may be ok too...   :D
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Wayne, i am in Parys Free-State South Africa. The riser is from Pau Fero and Zebrano with fenolic centre. I will gladly help anyone but i am also still beginner. Got most of my info from tradgang. the bowyers in RSA is scarce and far spread apart.

3/4" pau ferro 1/4" fenolic and 1/2' pau ferro to help with centre cut and stability

Hey Willem,

Great looking form, I'm based in Krugersdorp, where do you get your supplies from? I have made a few bows, but my supplier has closed up shop and immigrated.

Thanks

Pete

Pete, huge logistic problems for us. I usually get my glass from binghams. The wood I source were-ever I go. Bamboo slats from place called Panda bamboo Roodepoort.

rockkiller, no  the forms limb design differ quite a lot. You will see that the ne that I plan to be a forward riser has a part that is not so much curved in the middle of the limb. Might not be so clear on the photo's, but I will post as I start building( Still waiting for my drumsander!!)
