Looks like my new recipient is going to receive a yew-cored ASL. Kinda excited about this find of new bow wood.

Craig go to your local curtain place and ask if they have any cardboard cores that the material comes on. It is strong and light weight. I use it for all my bows.Usually they are happy to just get rid of them.

Welllll ... Just got the 2nd swap attempt finished, well the finish is drying now. Something about this bow though .... I just don't trust it. Too many little quirks while I was working on it. Nothing alarming, no frets or splinters or anything, but it just doesn't hit the spot. Grip is a little small, even for my hand ....

Not sure what I'll do. Nearing a month over the deadline so I need to make a call soon. I'm leaning towards shipping the lighter bow unless I can finish candidate number 3 in the next couple days.

Either way my recipient will be getting a very nice and reliable bow that I think he will really enjoy. Even at 42# the lighter bow really slings an arrow and should take deer very cleanly. It also has the very swirly looking ipe with a nice cocobolo and cherry riser. I'm sure it won't disappoint either way.

Off to add overlays and final tiller #3 a BBO with walnut core.

Oh man!
Starting to realize what all the fuss is about Osage!

Just slapped so,e stain on my first osage bow. A BBO. Man this osage is just so resilient it's ridiculous. I built two bows off the same form, one HBI and one BBO. Same length. Same width, same reflex.

The Osage came in 10# heavier, and took nearly an inch less set. And it has a less forward handle so it's also braced higher.

Might just get it in time to ship Friday. Pray for me lol.

Let's see if you're talk is this tough when I come down there this fall! I had a present for you too but I guess I'll keep it lol.

I shouldn't hassle you Dave, you did have that one bow of mine explode at full draw ... That was definately not alright.   :knothead:
