Here ya go Cantaloupe-boy wonder.. 2015

Yesterday a buddy and I was shooting the latest tri lam I posted the build about a month or so ago. Shipped it out to it's new owner today.. Hope he likes it.. It's a little heavy for my old arse to shoot.

This is my buddy Kenny, I gotta learn him how to shoot soon. He shoots decent groups, but if he would stand up straight and flex those back muscles, he would improve drastically.

This is one group he shot, not bad at 10 yards.

I got 2 boxes too. olive ash burl and Santos rosewood for veneers.. I just need some good clear glass..later today I might have time to start a one piece recurve for a friend, not sure of woods right now..

Finishing up my latest Hill bow. Yew under clear glass with cocobolo riser. Had to go with a wipe on poly because the spray kind just gummed up and never harden even after two coats of sanding sealer on the cocobolo. Got two coats of high gloss on it right now. Will put another one on tomorrow. Let it dry and then sign the bow. Clear spray of satin spar over that and then put the leather handle wrap on it. Will post pictures once I finish it hopefully next week.

Anyone ever use spray on spar urethane over wipe on Polly. I put 3 coats of sealer on my bow again and put a new first layer of wipe on poly but hate using wipe on... I wanna put 5 coats on and this wipe on stinks... Any thoughts?

Finally got my spray finish on "Snowy Day". Also started on a new bow. It's gonna be a beaut. 64" NTN, 1-1/4" wide for the first 6" tapering down o 1/2" nocks. It's rounded all over and sexy as hell. Still too heavy but looking good so far.

I'll take some pics and post in a bit. But my wife and 2 teenage daughters are starting a Downton Abbey marathon and I'm going back to the shop

Here's the bow I made yesterday. I called it "One Day..." since it was started and finished all in one day. The only thing I had to do today was to wrap the handle. It still needs a couple coats of spray poly since I ran out.

It's 64" total length. 1-1/4" for 6" tapering to 3/8" nocks. Basically it's a Torges style with a rounded belly except I did not make a bulbous handle. Ended up 50# @ 27".

As I was working on it, my 17 year old son came into the shop and asked who the bow was for. I didn't have a destination in mind but as he kiddingly said "Me!", I knew who would get it. I haven't made him a bow for many years and this one will serve him well if he gets into trad hunting,"One Day...".

Those all wood bows you guys make are sure impressive. I'm working on a laminated one now with a bocote riser, worked on the tips today. A good way to spend a snowy day.
