Wayne, that is what I plan to do with the next one.  4est trekker does it that way with a band saw.  Mine was cut to 1/2" thick on a table saw.  My band saw is not up to the task, but ill try cutting most  of the way with the table saw and finish the balance by hand.  If I had any class, I'd do it all with hand tools!

The other choice is to avoid the saw altogether and remove all excess wood with the Rigid.

John, your fix makes perfect sense and as much as I appreciate the value of your advice, I'm going ahead as is if only to satisfy my curiosity.

Perhaps the easiest way if you don't wanna do a lot of cutting, scraping etc on the belly, is this:

Decide on limb thickness, say 1/2", then cut a 1/8" strip and a 3/8" strip, and laminate them together with a thin (1/8") "power lam" in between in the handle area.

That should stiffen the handle area enough that when you glue on a block it won't pop off.

I'm finishing up a dozen surewood shafts and whittling on a hunk of hedge that I hope to make into a bow. It's got some twists and turns and a couple of knots so it ain't exactly been an easy build.

Worked on a wood carving yesterday. This will be my first ... Been pondering it for a while. Finally made a sketch a couple months back, and finally bust out the carving tools. Going to be a scene of a lone wolf on a ridge in the forest .... If I dont bugger it up too badly.
Pics to come soon.

Ben, if you hadn't said it's your first carving, I would never have guessed. It's coming along nicely.
Basswood can be really fuzzy and hard to sand. Before you varnish, seal with a sanding sealer and you should have an easy time getting rid of the fuzz.

Watched snow fall all day.  This is Jasper, AL and we have at least 8" on the ground and it's still falling.  Kept me from shipping my swap bow, since the county is shut down.

Snowing here too.  Wife and I went out for lunch and by the time we started home the streets are covered and slick.  Does not bother me cause I grew up a Yooper.  Gotta keep an eye on some of the goofballs out there though!

Those folks in your neck of the woods are probably having a bit of a time adapting!

Something I rarely get a chance to do, took a walk in the snow behind house. No squirrel or rabbits but did see some deer, go figure. Really enjoyed it though.Full draw picture of latest osage self bow finished December 2014, 68" 47#@28"a little slow at posting pictures.
