We pieced together a Folding Paint Booth, complete with filter and evac fan..  Keeps the overspray under control..!

We had to change out this fan, to one with a sealed motor housing.. Afraid this one was not explosion proof...

Walked through Bass Pro Shop's new store in the Memphis pyramid today. Can't believe the prices on their archery equipment and tackle!

Just finished watching fireworks in the Auto Zone Park from our hotel window... (Wife wouldn't let me go to the game. Had to do Beale St, instead!)

Been a long day.    :o

This was the first day in some time I got to work on something for myself. With the rain we're having, it's too humid to put the last bit of finish on my swap bow, so I worked on a little something to send along with it when it does finally go.
Then I worked on a bow that I started a few months ago but set aside because it was way too heavy. I guess the quiet rainy weather put me in the right frame of mind and I carefully scraped and checked and exercised the bow until it came down to something in the 50 + pound range with a nice even tiller. I borrowed a string from another bow and shot some test arrows through it. Boy does it shoot! I was so happy with it that I spent the rest of the day shaping the riser and adding tip overlays.
Tomorrow I'll make a string for it and post some pictures.

Here are some pictures.

I used a bamboo back and belly with padauk for the core and black limba for the riser. The tips are padauk and limba with walnut tip wedges. It's 70" tip to tip and 69" NTN and draws 50# at 28". When I glued up this bow I went too heavy on the core and it was a beast, so I set it aside for a few months until I had time to play with it. It really smokes an arrow!
Unfortunately, it popped a long splinter in the backing this afternoon. I don't think it's fatal though and I really like this bow, so I'll sand off the back and glue on a new lam

Thanks Bob. If I'm careful with sanding, it should work out.

Just got some packages in the mail. Ordered up some new tires, drive belt, and carter bearing system for my band saw in hopes that my cuts will be smoother.

Also received some awesome material for a new R/D 64 inch bow off of my Kenny M form. Materials area cocobolo and Madagascar ebony riser with maple accent stripes. Cocobolo veneers under clear glass. Can't wait to get this bow started.

Also have been trying to get a new shorty recurve finally glued up but have had some hick ups along the way. The top of my form broke under the pressure of the air hose so I got a new LVL beam to make a thicker top. Hope to have it all squared away in the next week.

That's how my week has gone so far. Have a happy and safe 4th everyone.

Today I was able to upgrade parts to my bandsaw and boy did they make a difference. I rebuilt my swing jig and it works well now. I am pleased with it so I think I will be now stepping up my game with building my longbows. I can't wait for my next bow which is for myself.

Here are some pics from the day...

I'm super pumped now....

New jig worked excellent.... My calculation was off... Could have just done a 3/4 inch on both side.. Next time... Anyhow it will still look good once completed

I started a 66" D/R longbow..zebrawood riser, amberboo tapers and parallels, East Indian Rosewood veneers under clear glass. I got out my swing jig and added some black and white glass to the riser. I'm hoping to get it glued up friday afternoon.

I re tillered the longbow that I posted earlier after it pulled a long splinter in the backing.
After grinding off the damaged bamboo, I glued on a new piece along with a thin power lam, and now it is a shooter again and drawing 53# @ 28". 3 pounds heavier than before.

Ran my first marathon yesterday. Then spent the rest of the day walking funny. Today we're going to take my niece fishing.

I got one glued up and in the oven! I am building this for a friend's wife and I had her browse through Troy's web site for the veneers she wanted. Here is what she choose.
