What a day of bow building I had today!
I took that nice board of pau ferro and cut out two risers from it. Then I cut them both in half and laminated them with two thin walnut spacers and an I beam of padauk for one and an I beam of purpleheart for the other. Then I cut out core lams of padauk and purpleheart for them.
These are going to be Christmas presents for my Niece and Nephew.
Things were moving along nicely and a couple of friends dropped by to tell me that we're invited to a good buddy's milestone birthday party next weekend. After they left, I thought what am I going to give him? So I grabbed a riser from a pile of half finished ones I have, cut out a core lam, got it tapered...etc. And three and a half hours later, I have a longbow all glued up.
I can't believe I got it done so fast. ( I sure hope it turns out right, it looked good after clamping ). Luckily, I had a riser and belly lams ready to go. These parts take the longest to make and I need to get this bow shooting by Monday in order to finish it and shoot it in some before Saturday.
Happy, happy, happy.
Dave.
