My bulbs are in the bottom. While mine came to thermal equilibrium eventually, that does not mean thermal uniformity. There are definite cold spots and hot spots in mine even with seven bulbs spread evenly across the bottom. But it doesn't take much of a fan to circulate the air just a little bit and even things out. I highly recommend it. Mainly because it will ensure your thermostat or thermocouple is in the same temperature air as your bow.

Good idea with the fan. You could probably use a small 12vdc computer fan. I have a number of those laying around.

Don't have any pics of mine but I saw a guy Apex Predator I think and he used 1" foil foam board to build his put the bulbs on a moveable board. I just place the form on the floor next to the bulbs and place the foil box over it. I preheat the area where the box will be. It's nice and light, compact and when done stores out of the way. I wouldn't change a thing.
