A new 54"
« on: February 14, 2015, 01:54:00 PM »
This is the second one finished off the new form. It's 54" and 52@27". Pac yew limbs and pac yew/coco riser. I put .003 taper in this one with a modified kennym super-lam to see what it would do. It is a smooth shooter

Love it. Short and sweet. Handle is a little too squarish for me though.

You're really turning out some nice ones! That length is very handy in the woods too.

For a 54" bow it must of been some job.  Don't know how you guys pull it off.

Another gorgeous bow, well done!!  Do you like the .003 over the .002 of the last one?

I would have to really get nitpicky to say which one I like better. To me the .003 feels smoother but the .002 is also a righty and about 5#'s heavier. I'm going to have to build a few more to really start figuring out what the best taper is. The .003 starts stacking right before or at 28" and the .002 will draw past 28" to about 28.5-29". I'm about to start a couple of 56" to see if they will draw to at least 30".

Chris, very good job. Love the short bows but have never
Ben able to shoot anything shorter than 58", got a 29.5" draw.
Would be interested in your findings on that 56 incher.
