awaiting new samples!
« on: March 07, 2015, 03:33:00 PM »
the long awaited glass arrived 10 minutes ago!!
it looks awesome
no streaks that i can see holding it up to the daylight!!
was holding it up next to a piece i got from binghams- that was "hand selected" for being streak free- i can still see the small streaks in the gordons glass, cant see any in the new glass.

unfortunately the factory only sent me 040 glass, and i only have some 030 glass to compare it too
so the o40 does appear fractionally "darker" in color than the o30- and thats understandable.

as soon as i can find my sock draw- i will get some pics up.
will laminate them up today- and have pics up tomorrow of what they look like- but it looks AWESOME!!!

dont want to jump the gun here- and will wait for the glue up- but pretty dang  sure i will be getting my glass from this factory.

and with the higher glass content- the glass does actually feel stiffer!!!- but i will also do some kind of rudimentary stiffness test on them- will post pics too!!

cheers
wayne

Roy ... Let me break it down for you ... I think for them, this is like if you or me found a nice grove of 6" diameter bamboo with 3' node spacing .... Or a whole stand of clean Osage or hickory .... I think.

Ben, I wasn't being sarcastic. I truly hope these guys find a good glass source. I make wood bows, but I love looking at the bows these guys turn out with amazing wood in the limbs.

Roy wouldn't it be cool if you could use that beautiful wood without the glass. They'd look even better without the glass to cloud the colors.

Do a search on the internet for high strength clear epoxy liquid. Then ya just dip them bows into it and let it dry... Piece of cake I thunk..  :)

I'm interested in this find. Keep me posted Wayne. If it works out, I'd be interested in some.

I found 4 pieces of .040 clear glass yesterday that I didn't know I had. It's older Bo Tuff... pre-streak... I think.

Hi I would be interested in contact information for this supplier because I'm from Czech republic and it impossible to get anything else than Bearpaw glass which is very streaky and ordering gordon's glass from U.S. gets really pricey (postage, tax etc.). Thank you
