TTT.. Is this "new glass" nice?  I could use 20 pieces of "good" glass..

Man , I am right out of decent glass, need more colored too but need to get it all in one order to cut costs. Can't do my swap bow, can't do orders, winge winge.

ok glued up some Ipe  a night ago- pulled it out of the oven this morning, and got some pics of it, and the black limba layup i did as well.

this is what i have noticed so far.
1.the new glass seems to be visually "brighter" or more "transparent" once glued- cant tell the difference in the raw form
2. there are No streaks in the new glass
3. but...it does seem to have a very small fleck in the glass- it is not nearly as visible as the streaks- but it is still there!!!
it is more visible on the very dark wood- Ipe! and only when you get the angle, and the lighting just right!

this is going to end up being a personal decision- personally , i will use the new glass.
tell me what ya'll think.

i have e mailed the factory this morning- to see what they had to say about the flecks- and if that was an old problem, since resolved etc etc

some very good- older gordons glass i have had around for a few years- but in the photos, now that i am "streak sensetized" you can see some mild streaking in it   :(

 and this was some recent gordons glass, that i bought from binghams that they said they hand picked for me- being streak free. so not sure what that meant- i got the good stuff- and the junk was passed on to someone else- or they did not hand pick it- and its just the standard now.
i dont know what the answer is!!

I would like to know a few things about this company. Is this an actual factory producing glass for the commercial market? What is the name of the company and where are they located? Do they have a web site and how are they marketing their products now? Contact information, price list?

There seems to be a lot of interest in this glass and the company should be happy to get their info out there.

Are you sure the flecks are in the glass? Many woods are prone to "gassing" and will give a perceived fleck look to it.

Haven't done a lot of ipe and don't recall there being a gassing issue with it..would think not.

I do believe that there is some with limba though.

Might also be worth spraying a quick coat of finish over the new glass and seeing if some of that fleck is surface imperfection. Might disappear with a bit of finish

seems to be in the glass- will try the suggestions though. awaiting the details from the customs brokers to see if we can get a better tarrif rating to help with duties.
what i did learn is that there wont be duties paid twice- once into canada- and then onto the states- it will be a single payment.

In those pics, it sure does look better than the Gordon's! Did they send you enough to build a bow? I'm curious about the strength to thickness to weight ratio, as well as the price.

I live in Sweden and have used the glass frequently the last year!
It has the same stiffness (I use same stack) as Bo-Tuff glass.
The black glass from same supplier is slightly stiffer then the clear.

Almost all bows on my facebook page is buildt with this glass.

i can understand the frustration guys- it is just taking some time- when dealing with customs brokers and customs officials to get the initial paperwork all sorted out- once that is all figured out- then it will be a basic procedure from then on.
it will be available at roughly the same price as the gordons has been available for - give or take a bit- as best as i can calculate right now.
we can bring it in and pay a standard import rate- which will be based on the value of the product- and that will be high- but if we get this initial, but tedious and tiresome legwork done first- it will come in under a special tariff heading and rate, that will be at a significantly better rate- but that , sadly all comes at the cost of time- for the first shipment.
