watching this thread with interest along with the rest of you. I do know there is a company in germany called bogen sport-beier that claims to have good glass available. I am thinking of placing a order with them to see if it is good glass. anyone else purchased from them ?

I'm afraid ol' chrome had a bad day translating! Still, sounds promising but not sure if it means they have the clear glass wired or merely they meant the colored glass. Also not sure if they were referring to ULS or UL.

I just finished grading my new load of Gordons glass and I am very very happy with it. I'm not saying it is perfect, I just haven't seen any common problems with it. I also haven't glued any up yet, but I'm excited.
It is now listed on our website for sale.

I would bet that the glass from bogensport is the same as Bearpaw...There is no way that Bearpaw makes their own. Even the worst Gordon glass was clearer than that of Bearpaw.

Could you also check it for strength? I have bought 3 different brands of Clear fiberglass this year.. I bought 2 pieces of one that when unpacked it did not lay flat on my bench, the ends stayed about 1 inch above bench and it was very streaky..I didnt test or compare it to any other brands of glass since i knew i wouldn't be using it. Another one looked like it could be clear after glue up but I didn't like the "rough" glue side of the glass, its not sanded like Gordons Glass but has a rough almost stippled like surface for gluing..it did lay flat on my bench when unwrapped so that is good..it is thinner and wider than the 1.75" 040 UL UL glass I typically use. The only test I did was I clamped a piece of it 12" past end of bench next to a piece of UL and hung a c-clamp off of the end to see how far it flexed..the Gordon's appeared stiffer..I switched clamps in case of weight differences and Gordon's still had 1/2" less bend..now this was not a scientific or fair test since the Gordon's was 040 1.75" wide  and the other 035 but 2" wide. Clear "strong" defect free glass would be awesome!! But clear defect free glass that's "weak" would not make me switch from Gordon's.

Fujimo, some good testing would be a plus, I know you are putting in a lot of time and effort into this and don't want to end up with a warehouse full of unsold product. I only did a simple hang a weight off the end test. A real scientific test would be more involved, too bad I don't know any engineering students at the University of Florida..they could really test the materials and give real results. I had to buy the glass, so I did lose a few dollars. I should glue it all together and make a solid fiberglass riser.

I'll find out. If she can't do it I also know a couple of other engineering students who might be able to.
