new bow start
« on: March 11, 2015, 02:15:00 PM »
The Lord willing I'm going to start a pig nut hickory pony bow. I cut the tree long enough ago that I already have a sister bow to it. I want to heat straighten it and recurve the tips. Maybe sinew it. I shoot some pics as I go.

Gotta sinew a good horse bow. And of course recurve the tips so you can get a solid full draw.

I can't wait to start very soon. It's going to be 48" long.

I made a 42" sinew backed osage several years ago. I flipped the tips. It draws 45 @ 25. I added the horse hair tassle on the top and snake skins to protect the sinew. Its a fun little bow.
