Little details that have had big impact...
« on: March 14, 2015, 11:45:00 AM »
Sometimes it is the little details that have made significant impact on my building processes and made things so much better. One for me was something I picked up from Big Jim on a thread here somewhere that I appreciate every time I get to that part of the  bow building process.

It is using shrink wrap on a roll for packing to wrap my form prior to glue up and then wrapping a second time the form with the lams laid up on the form. This has been awesome to help in multiple ways. One - the lams don't shift when I pressurize the hose. Two - the glue that squeezes out is pushed out nicely between the two layers of wrap and clean up of the bow out of the form is soooo much easier.

here is a pic of the wrap I use now...

So a big shout out to Big Jim for that tip!

I think a thread sharing these kind of tips would be valuable.

I saw that too and have been using it. I took another bow off the form yesterday and it popped right off, very slick and helpful!

How do you do it exactly? I can't visualize it.

I spiral wrap the complete bow with two layers of plastic wrap. Keeps all the lams in-place and glue off everything.
