I have a slat of padauk that I'd like to use as a core lam in a bamboo backed tri lam longbow. There are three tiny wormholes that go diagonally through from about the middle of the slat to the edge, more or less where the fade of the bow would taper out. I was going to thin down the slat to about 3/16" and taper it to 1/16".
Can it be safely used? Plugged with wood/epoxy?
The bow in question is to be a light draw weight one. Less than 40#.
