Finished a couple, Pics
« on: May 11, 2015, 04:42:00 PM »
I just finished these two. One is a an ordinary longbow made  from European  Hornbeam.  The other is made after the Stoneage bow found in Horsens fjord Denmark. They excavated an under the sea level Stoneage  site in 2011 and among other things a well preserved 3/4 bow was found. The original was made from Elm and C-14 dated to 5200-5400 BC.
I made mine from Ash and longer than the original and I cut in string notches, There was no trace of a string notch on the one preserved bow tip.
I am posting a few pics.

Looks like great work on those Bue!. Interesting that it never had string nocks on the Horsens.Wonder if they used a twine wrap or similar to contain the bow string?

So nice!
