Osage Selfbow With Sapwood and Snake
« on: May 17, 2015, 11:17:00 AM »
I finally got this one finished! You ever come across that piece that just won't cooperate? I bet I heated this one ten times and still don't quite have it just right but it's time to move on. It has a draw length of thirty one inches and pulls fifty five pounds at that length. It was difficult to shoot it in because I'm not used to pulling past my head with my twenty six inch draw!  The snake skin wasn't long enough to do the whole bow so I cut it in half and used silk thread and glue to hold down the ends. The handle wrap is the second piece of leather because I didn't like my stitching on the first one so I pulled it off and just wrapped it. No stitching needed. This bow is also the longest bow I have ever made at sixty eight inches from knock to knock. Thanks for looking.

WOW, that is a beauty!!! You are truly an artist.
    :notworthy:
I believe that is the prettiest bow I've seen on here.

When you decide you don't like it any more, you can just send it to me.   ;-)

BTW, I really like the last picture, I wish more people would post that kind of pic of their bow(s)

Oh roy. They say the memory if the first thing to go. Clearly your looks went first so at least you got to keep your memory a bit longer. Lol

I'm still around and still make em I just don't post Em all since photo bucket is terrible to use from my phone. I'll try and post more of em so you don't forget me. ;-)

Thanks saltwatertom. That's my favorite way to post full draw shots too.
Thanks kevin. :-)
