Bowhunting in Hawaii?
« on: March 05, 2008, 03:31:00 PM »
Any of you guys hunt over there?  What does Hawaii have to offer as far as seasons, animals and access?  Looks like I might be over there in October, just wondering if bringing a bow would be worth while?

Well, I did a search... never would have imagined there'd be so much info here.

Anyhow, I'll be staying on Ohau.   I'd like to hunt there if possible.  I'll probably only have one day to devote to hunting, so I'm hoping to make it count.

Hey NorthShore,

I was tempted to say this on the "show me who you are thread" but thought it would be off topic - now here - here I can tell you, that that picture of yours is one of the greatest hero photos I have ever seen! Well done Sir!

The scenary, the colors - espescially the hog, the composition, the bow - wow! Just amazing

Nope. No animals there. Bad weather, crowds, all paved over, no other trad shooters, nothing but rock and sidewalk surrounded by shark-infested ocean. No surf, either. Never mind what Manny says. Don't bother going.

But if you already have your tickets, I'll take them off your hands for almost half what you paid for them! Hate to see you waste you money....

Seriously, need a bow caddy for your trip? One of these days I'm going to have to take about a month and pack up my boards and bows and head to Oahu. I have friends that did that after high school, some never came back.

I saw a Turkey Call epsode where they hunted some kind of eastern turkey there.  The guide said that bc of the weather the turkey's where always mating and you could always call one in any time of the year.  They even have a NWTF branch there.

Steve, lotsa turks on Moloka'i.  However, I don't believe there is a season for non-residents, but I could be "misinformed"...
