hey guys, I am trying to make a couple kids bows for an 8 and 12 yr old. Can anyone give me a formula for a flat bow and recommended bow weights for kids this age? length, width, and stack height would be greatly appreciated using .040 glass.

Once they get close to being teenagers it is hard to guess on weight.
My just turned 12 grandson. Is happy with a lighter weight.
15#@24 inches. But he is a,light weight.
The 8 year old likes 15 #@26 inches. Neither pull that length.
a lot of 12 and 13 year olds are up to 25 pounds @ 28".
Depends on if they have shot enough to develope any of the archery muscles.
Can't help with stack mine are bamboo and wood.

Macbow, whats the length you'd go for for a flatbow for kids that age?

I build a 46" longbow for kids using about a 12" riser and a total stack of about .240. These are only 1" wide. I just cut 2" glass in half with a sharp utility knife that way I can get one and half bows from each strip of glass. They have a mild deflex reflex shape and seem to work well for the kids up to a 20-22" draw or so. Sorry don't have any to take pictures of at the moment all are in the hands of kids.

When they were really small I started with 48" bows.
Now 54" for the small guys and 60" for the 12 year old.

Here is a link to a bow I built. Might be in the ballpark.
