It's a shag bark hickory stave I don't think the nit goes deep enough to end up on the finished bow, but how to I go about getting it out?

Generally knot on the belly are of little concern. If it is soft I'd saturate it with super glue, if it has voids in it add super glue and saw dust. While working down the belly act like the knot it not there and scrape away.

I am very new and still learning, but I used a cabinet scraper and a sharp pocket knife to work gently around my knotted Osage stave.

On the back it is necessary but not so much on the belly.
