Bending fresh split staves?

Plan on trying it this Saturday on a few seriously bowed tension wood staves. Plan to decrown the belly side and setting staves on a 55gal drum with bowed tips pointing up. I'll boil water in the drum for steam, cover staves with a big canvas tarp, then attempt to bend in a forked tree. Haven't decided on how or what I'll strap them on/to for them to cool. Any advice????

Not sure what kind of wood you have there, but if they are green you shouldn't need steam to bend them. Rough them down and lash them in place on a 2x and let them dry.

Pearl means to rough them down close to a rough bow shape.

Yeppers!! Cut more Osage Tuesday and this stuff is really wicked! Tension wood vs. compression wood is amazing! Top side of my he log split nice, bottom side was like splitting steel. I have 4 of the "t" wood staves that I bet will really zip an arrow! Compression wood took a really bad set. Been a great experience so far!

Lol!!! Learned a lot yesterday.....
1....I split my staves WAY too big
2....The draw knife is an amazing tool
3....I'm terrible at at lashing
4....10" bandsaw's are a total waste of $
5. Chasing shots of makers mark with a mixed drinks made of makers mark is a guaranteed nap by 2pm
6....Macbow is an incredible man!

Update,,,,10" bandsaw w/hook type blade @ 6tpi cuts a 1x w/1/8" backing nicely! Not a total waste

He must be, Mac..  Or it was the makers mark.    

WOW, 1 x 1/8th ya say.. That saw is a smoker...

Saw is a junker and it's a 9". Makers made me type like that,,lol. Should have read 1" maple board with an 1/8" hickory backing.
