Bocote Riser-What For Accents?
« on: March 06, 2008, 11:14:00 AM »
I've ordered a Rose Oak Wildcat and will be going with a bocote riser and bocote veneers for limbs. Any thoughts on the woods for the accents? I'm leaning towards bloodwood, but would like to hear other suggestions (as well as see pics if possible) that go well as accents with bocote.

Ziricote with osage would look sweet together with the Bacote for accents.Mostly Ziricote with some Osage mixed in.

I don't normally like Osage but that looks really nice.

Thanks    A week in the Texas sun will age it up really, really quickly! When I first picked it up it was very yellow. It's mellowing very nicely!

Another vote for the cocobolo...

I have a bow made with Birds-eye maple limbs and Bacote handle and overlays...it looks amazing.

But if your looking for a great contrast then Cocobolo can't be beat IMHO.

Osage...you won't regret it, gets better with age.  I had a bow years back bocate riser with osage accents.

Blood wood would look good, but so would cocobolo.

I tried bocote and bloodwood and it didn't look that good.  Most of the time a darker wood looks fine with bocote since it seems to bring out the dark color of the bocote.

I'll have to say that KnifeRiver's Bocote and Wenge bow is the most beautiful bow I have ever seen.  That pic doesn't do it justice.
